Wish List

Ol' Mondo is well past the 600,000-visitor mark, and with so many folks coming here, certainly at least one of you has one of these. I've shared a ton of music with you, filled requests, and re-upped records; now's your chance to return the favor. If you've got one of these bad boys (or anything else along these lines you'd like to share), please put a link in the comments.

  5. I have several of the early Alex Harvey albums (we used to be friends), but would need a tutorial on how to upload them.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hey Rich ... if you have the files as MP3s, create a folder on your computer to put them in, then compress the folder into a zip file. Once you've done that, go to www.zippyshare.com (it's a free file-sharing site), then click on "browse" and select the file. It will take a few minutes, but once it's uploaded you will see a link. Take that link and paste it in here. Good luck.

  7. Okay, thanks for the tutorial. Please give my technologically-challenged self a bit of time to digitize the albums first, and I'll do my best.

  8. Great ... looking forward to hearing what you've got.

  9. EW -- Well, I'm going crazy. I went to pull out my "Alex Harvey," "Souvenirs" and "True Love" LPs, and the only one on the shelf is "True Love." I can't for the life of me figure out where the others have gone. These were all records that Alex himself gave to me, so I'm pretty upset about this. At any rate, I'll go ahead and digitize "True Love" and try to put it up.

  10. EW -- I finally figured it out. My files were too big, so I created mp3 versions and it worked fine. Here's the link: http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/xYMUyI0j/file.html

Now for the disclaimers: If you decide the quality is too poor to use, I'll understand. The LP suffered some water damage years ago, so I was able to get it only so clean. I also discovered, watching the record spin, that it's pressed ever-so-slightly off-center.

It comes with a lyric sheet, and I cleaned up the sleeve pretty well, but my scanner isn't large enough to scan this stuff. If you have suggestions, I'm all ears.

And yes, there are only 9 songs on this LP.

  14. Dear EW
I have a copy of the album "Bud Shank & Bob Alcivar Singers - Let It Be" and in a few days I have intent to do a copy and send it to you. How can I do to send a digital copy of the album to you?

  15. Cool ... here's what you can do: on your computer, move the files to a folder and compress the folder into a a zip file. Then open a browser and go to http://zippyshare.com. Click on "browse," and then select your zip file. Click "upload." It should take a minute or so to upload. Once it has uploaded you'll see a link ... you can paste that link into the comments section here. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Okay. That's exactly what I'll do. Wait for a few days and I will send the file.

  20. I'd pretty much do just about anything to hear that sanford and son record

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah, it would be nice to have ... I've seen it on eBay, maybe I'll just snag a copy. I have managed to acquire some of my own request and I'll post them soon.

  22. I wonder what's on the Sanford & Son record other than the title song "Street Beater"?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I may be wrong, but I think it could be sketches from the show,

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have the Sanford and Son LP...somewhere in this house. I'll do you a 320 rip of it when I find it.

  29. Thanks Timmy ... I'm betting on it being pretty bad ... makes me love it that much more.

  30. Ooh ... this is deliciously feeble. Love the canned applause. And the Dead imitators make the real band sound tight.

  31. Are you implying that The Grateful Dead are half-assed?

  32. Timmy ... would you have the King's Road Simon and Garfunkel album?

  34. Great blog! Thanks for a lot of excellent music--I don't believe I hadn't seen this one until today. When I shut down my blog I had a number of recordings of old albums that I never got around to posting. They're all in .wav files, with 1 filed per side, and since I lost my file editing software (it was on floppy discs) when I got a new computer I don't really have the software or time to separate tracks. Would you be interested in them? I can convert them to flac or mp3 if you want. These are the albums:
John & Anne Ryder ‎– I Still Believe In Tomorrow (1969)
    Vida E Inspiracion - Vida E Inspiracion (1969)
Claude Fats Greene - Fats Shake 'Em Up (1973)
    Elmerlee Thomas ‎– Sun's Gonna Shine (1959)
    Nils-Aslak Valkeapää ‎– Joikuja (1968)
The Saxons ‎– Love Minus Zero/No Limit (1966)

  35. Sure Max ... toss 'em up here. Thanks.

  36. I converted these to flac but they still need to have the tracks separated:

  49. I don't know if these are your cup of tea, but they're favs of mine. Both have an weird, ethereal quality to them. The first is, in my opinion, one of the greatest vocal albums ever recorded, way back in 1957. The second is an early moog album from 1969, with the poetry of Charles Baudelaire read over the music. Both the music and vocals were done by Mrs. White, and it sounds more like early electronic music as opposed to the moog's normal use of covering then popular tunes. This version is ripped from a vinyl reissue I picked up on clear wax.

Ruth White - Flowers Of Evil (1969)

So...any chance of a Susan Jacks re-up sometime in the future?
